It’s always good to get out of the city on a hot summer day or a lazy Sunday.
Although it takes a lot of time to actually leave the traffic behind it worth the effort.
From the city borders you can enter the mountains that are beautiful and have really nice narrow roads the bikers must love.
My personal favorite if you’re going north from Budapest, you can turn left towards Pilisszentlászló and head to Visegrád.
Once you leave the city border you are taken to the mountain road perfect for the bikers and also wide enough so that two car can barely pass each other.

Be careful though it’s a paradise also for cyclists.
Once you enter the main road turn right towards city and had to the Castle the road to the Castle is frequented by tourists from all over the world so it’s a bit slower ride. But once you pass the touristic places you getting into a serpentine leading to the ski slopes on the mountains.

there are plenty of restaurants that you can choose from but I recommend this tiny place that they serve the best strouts with garlic and French fries.

It’s not really a long trip, but enough if you have 1 or 2 hours to pass.
The road on the way back is is following the Danube so you can ride right on the river bank even through Budapest which is the fastest way to get back to the city centre.
