Ubud, rice terrasses and waterfalls

On our Honeymoon we headed towards the beautiful Island of Bali in Indonesia. It was really interesting to see how many people are choosing the scooter as a means of transport. I have never seen so many riders at the same intersection.

Day 1 – 22/06/2018

Distance: 56,3 km
Duration: 3h 40 min
Average speed: 15 km/h
Top speed: 60 km/h

We have rented a scooter from a shop near to our hotel. 50cc , tops at 60 km/h, I tried 🙂

We headed towards the famous Bali Swing, where everyone is trying to take a picture flying above the rain-forest. Besides the mandatory Instagram pictures we found a lovely nest where even more romantic photos can be taken.

Next, we headed towards the rice fields in Tegallalang. The weather seemed to be nice, but you can never predict the tropical rain. We had to stop and wait for it to pass and fill the tank as well the local way.

Then we headed back towards the Monkey forrest and made made some friends with the inhabitants.

Then it started raining again, and we decided to look for another place to visit until the weather gets better here.

Day 2 – 28/06/2018

Distance: 46,1 km
Duration: 3h 38 min
Average speed: 16,68 km/h

We had a couple of days on the Gili Islands then returned to Ubud to check those sites that we missed due to the continuous rain.

This was the day of waterfalls. First we checked the beautiful Tegenungan waterfall that was one of the most peaceful site we’ve seen on the main island.

Next stop was Tirta Empul temple and park, we even got a blessing from a local woman with rice.

Day 3 – 29/06/2018

Distance: 133 km
Duration: 4 h 45 min
Average speed: 28 km/h
Top speed: 80 km/h

We started the day early by watching the sunrise from the top of the volcano at Mount Batur, and the neighbouring volcano errupted on the same day, so we were able to take some beautiful pictures

After returning to the hotel and having breakfast, we rented another scooter, this baby topped at 80, to drive around the nearby public baths.

First we rode to the seaside. It was one of the main roads of the island, yet people were using their scooter to transport goods.

After that we headed towards the famous Tirtagangga that everyone who visits Bali should see and headed back through the mountain to our hotel.

From waking up to ice on my windshield for the fir From waking up to ice on my windshield for the first time, somewhere in Poland to breakfast in bed on another freezing morning next to the Baltic Sea in Estonia. 2 stops during my 3000km solo roadtrip that I won't forget anytime soon.

If you're thinking about getting out of your comfort zone, just do it. Because if I could pull this off, you can also do anything.
And the feeling is amazing.

But I'm not going to lie, it sucks at the beginning. I had a low point about 3 days into the trip, and I seriously considered turning back. I was still in southern Poland, only a few hundred km from home, I was cold and tired and it all seemed too hard to do alone. So I cried a little, got some emotional support from home, then pulled myself together and drove almost all the way to the Lithuanian border. After that, things became a lot more easier and fun. 😊

And to call one of them home for a few weeks was an incredible experience 😊
What allowed me to move to this world heritage village (Geiranger 🇳🇴) in the middle of summer, was a housekeeping position. I did many hours of cleaning, a few hours of lawnmowing and a little bit of dogsitting 🥰
I spent every single day off outside and on rainy afternoons I created my watercolor version of the fjord 🎨 ➡️last pic.

My memorable Hurtigruten voyage deserves a post in My memorable Hurtigruten voyage deserves a post in my feed - a proof and reminder to myself that I worry too much.
Based on previous experiences, I was terrified of getting seasick on the ship, all alone for 18hrs, with no cabin to retreat to.
At the end of course I was almost completely fine and it didn't even seem that long. 🙏

Fun fact: I actually saw this exact same ship back in march during my little norwegian roadtrip, in Honningsvag - little did I know that in a few months I would be on board 😊

Lots of questions about this, so here it is: i'm v Lots of questions about this, so here it is: i'm volunteering at a small farm in Norway, about 1.5hrs from Bergen. In exchange for the work, I get food and accommodation. I was looking for a place where I get to learn about caring for rescued animals and gardening as I'm very interested in it. I also knew that I wanted to come back to Norway and explore it a bit more 😊
I currently don't have the budget to travel around an expensive country, but this way most of my expenses are covered and I get to explore in my free time and I learn a lot 😊

Answering the question i got asked the most during the past few months: how much did i pay for my rental car in Lapland? (Or was it the 'how old are you?' 🤔 Anyway, i'll talk about the car now 😅)

I rented this beautiful Corolla for 2.5 months and i paid 1840 eur total. It's not a small amount BUT well, being free and flexible doesn't have a price tag. Also it's less than 25 eur/day. This included almost 5000km, a 2nd driver, possibility to cross the border to Norway and Sweden, returning the car at night, and insurance. Now, the insurance was not zero excess which stressed me a little every now and then and i'd probably do it differently next time which would make it more expensive of course. My biggest fear was hitting a reindeer 🫣 But even tho I didn't really have previous winter driving experience, nothing happened and I didn't get any extra charges.
⛽️Thanks to the hybrid technology, i also didn't have to spend a fortune on fuel. 🙏
The car was from Sixt Rovaniemi, as they don't require credit card and communication was a bliss.💌

FYI, i got similar offers for the summer in another European country, so if you're spending several months at a place and don't want to buy, it worths to ask around.
Although this time i might actually buy one, let's see how it goes 🤞
