Day 1
The first day started slowly. Half the group were planning to start early morning, we had to stay at work until lunchtime to arrange some business for the company we are working for, so they went ahead through the mountain road and annoyed us with pictures taken on the road while we were sitting in the office.
Finally we made it through the door and we headed towards our meeting point at lake Bled. I do not want to bore anyone with the 3 hours drive on the highway, that was anything but interesting. We made it and the group was reunited again.

We made our way to Crna Gora where we stationed ourselves so we can make several small trips and return for rest.
Day 2
We headed to the Mountain and the famous Mangart touching the north east corner of Italy. The roads here were crazy and the rain didn’t help. Imagine the situation, you are on a serpentine and enter a tunnel. By the time your eyes can adjust to the dark you can see the break lights of the bike ahead of you turning wildly. Well you just pray and hope you are turning where you should.
We made it finally to the bottom of the track that leads to the top of Mangart, it was closed down, so we proceeded through with care. A couple of kilometers later we realized why. Rocks on the road, snow, tunnels fallen… When we met a rock closing the whole road we stopped for pictures and headed to the lesser used roads of Italy again.

We stopped for lunch at a nice restaurant, then proceeded back to our base camp to tuck away the bikes and prepare for the next day.

Day 3
Finally the sun was out so we checked the road near Mangart again then turned north to cross some of the Alpine passes the Austrian roads are famous for. We did have a great time and despite not devouring many kilometers that day we enjoyed the some sections of the road back and forth on the finally dry asphalt.

Day 4: the way back home
As you’ve probably noticed I am not detailing the road back as it is usually quite dull us taking everything second to ride in the mountains resulting in taking the highway to hurry back home.
Well, not this time. We headed towards the north of Slovenia where we found some hidden gems like road 45 that I’m definitely going to visit again.
All in all this is a nice long weekend trip you can comfortably make in 4 days, but is you can only extend the weekend to 3 days it’s still doable
