When your friend tells you, that he’s getting married halfway between you and the most iconic part of Romania, you have to by bike, no questions asked.
Even if it’s May… even if it rains like hell…
My wife had similar thoughts she even surprised me with the opportunity to go on a stakeout for bears.
So, what you can do?
You pack all the waterproof clothes you have for your trip, send the wedding clothes with your friend to the hotel, then just ride along for a couple hundred kilometers in heavy rain to make it on time, then as soon as you arrive it’s clear blue sky.
So finally we arrived to our destination in Tusnadfurdo, and you can read about the experiences with the bears here.
We then proceeded to conquer Transfogaras again, this time together. We then hit the end of the road at around 1243 m altitude. They closed the road due to the amount of melted snow on the road, so we had to turn back. but we were still happy as the weather was on our side this time.
As you can see my bike got a bit of upgrade since the first time I was here, and I have to tell you, it’s much more convenient touring like this
The next day came on us with heavy rain from Deva up till the border. I have never had such thorough check at a border as this time. But we made it through and the sun started to dry our clothes again.
